Nat From GMU

On the road today with Ruth. We are picking up Natalie, our daughter, from her first year of college at George Mason University. I think she is enjoying being a Patriot. We look forward to having the Patriot home for a brief time this summer. The Nethery's enjoy Summer. Ruth and I enjoy our children, most of the time. Natalie, this man, your dad is very proud of you and so thankful that I have the privilege of being your DAD. Today, May 12, 2010, is a huge landmark in your life. Remember this day. Thank God for the opportunity to attend school and learn, grow, be stretched, form new friendships, be challenged and blossom into a young lady who is a world changer, difference maker and Kingdom Advancer. Way to go Nat. Go Patriots!

Lonely No Longer

Art thou lonely, O my brother?
Share thy little with another!
Stretch a hand to one unfriended,
And thy loneliness is ended.

Keep Going

We try to be reasonable about what we believe. What I believe is not reasonable at all. In fact, it's hilariously impossible. Possible things aren't worth much. These crazy impossible things keep us going. - Madeleine L'Engle

Fret Not

Said the Robin to the Sparrow:
"I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so."

Said the Sparrow to the Robin:
"Friend, I think that it must be,
That they have no heavenly Father,
Such as cares for you and me."

Rest

One Opp. At A Time

"I don't know what dream God is calling you to pursue, but I do know this: A dream becomes reality one opportunity at a time. And if you work like it depends on you and pray like it depends on God, there is no telling what God can do in and through you." Mark Baterson, In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day

Psalm 34:1-8

1 I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.

2 My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

3 Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.

5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.

6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.

8 Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Way To Go

WOW!!!

At the party I attended mentioned in a previous post I watc hed a little girl experience the power of WOW as she intently observed the birthday girls opening all the gifts that were given to them. The little girl's mother and I were watching and visiting when all of the sudden her daughter turned, looked in her mother's eyes and with a sense of awe and wonder said, "WOW." Her mother and I broke out in parental laughter and wonder ourselves. We thought it was sweet and innocent, and we both think it is the way we as adults should live. This little girl got the WOW. She saw the gifts, the fun, the joy, the friends, the celebration, and was overwhelmed with the WOW factor. May you and I look up and around and notice the gifts, the fun, the joy, the friends and the celebration and be overwhelmed with the WOW factor. "WOW."

Lion Chaser Manifesto by Mark Batterson

Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. Keep asking questions. Keep making mistakes. Keep seeking God. Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution. Stop repeating the past and start creating the future. Stop playing it safe and start taking risks. Expand your horizons. Accumulate experiences. Consider the lilies. Enjoy the journey. Find every excuse you can to celebrate everything you can. Live like today is the first day and last day of your life. Don't let what's wrong with you keep you from worshipping what's right with God. Burn sinful bridges. Blaze a new trail. Criticize by creating. Worry less about what people think and more about what God thinks. Don't try to be who you're not. Be yourself. Laugh at yourself. Quit holding out. Quit holding back. Quit running away. Chase the lion!

Heinz - Anticipation

B-day Party

Went to a Birthday Party yesterday and had a great time. Celebrating life is a wondrous experience. 3 and 7 these girls will soon turn. They now how to live life, wide open and then sleep. No humdrum in their daily routine. Adulthood has not yet decayed their ability to live in the 'Heinz Mode" (you young schooler's will have to google Heinz Ketchup Commercial). Anticipation. What a way to live. In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; in the morning I will lay out my request and then watch expectantly for the answer. Psalm 5:3

I'm Back

Leading a church full-time, working another job part-time, house hunting, house buying, move prepping led me to a blog break. I'm back.
